Meet Dave Gutierrez
About Me:
I grew up in the Crystal Lake area. My wife, Julia, and I have two kids attending school in district, Harper (8th grade) and David (4th grade).
Professional Background:
Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Masters in Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago. I have pent 20+ years in the logistics industry, mostly domestic suface transport.
School Board Experience:
I have served on the District 3 School Board for nearly 4 years and am running for a new 4 year term.
My Focus Areas
Community Transparency
I believe it's critical to continue to improve the communication from our district to the community across all our stakeholders--students, parents, teachers and staff, and our taxpayers--so that we can all work together to make our schools the best they can be.
Staff Culture and Retention
As a board member, I believe our staff should be held to a high standard with clear expectations and measures of success in order to create the best outcomes for our kids. A crucial part of that is making sure our staff feel supported and appreciated so that we can retain the best people and grow a culture of success.
Student Support
The most important part of our jobs - in the end, everything we do is about supporting and servicing our students.
